I heard of inquiry hub from my mom who heard it from a friend. I was hesitant at first, my parents reminded me it wouldn’t hurt to apply and go to the interview and ask as many questions as I can to see if it is something I would enjoy. So that’s what I did. I was in grade 8 the time my parents and I went to a meeting with Mr.Whiffin. The principle of inquiry hub at the time. That’s when Mr. Whiffin explained the idea of the school.

Of the many question that I asked, I remember asking about the Laptops and the technology part of the school. Since using technology in my schooling is a important tool for me. Using a laptop is a tool that allows me to deal with my dyslexia and learning differences. Since one of the requirements for the school was to have a laptop that was all good. I would no longer be the only one in the class using a laptop.

The next question I asked is if there would going to be an opportunity for me to start a garden and cook. As those where some of my biggest passions. It was very clear that they would not have home ec. or anything like that but he said their would be a possibility with the inquiry aspect. I also asked about the sports teams unfortunately the school would be too small for its own sports teams but there would be opportunities to try out at another high school in the area.

After that meeting I knew where I wanted to go for high school and what I wanted to do. Of course I would not have the normal high school experience, but I wanted to create a garden, cook and have fun.

This school would hopefully also give me the opportunity to improve my learning and give me more opportunities to show what I learned in another form then just tests. If I chose not go to IHub, I would have gone to Charles best. Since I was in French immersion in grade 8 and would have continued if it was an option. Charles best is wear most of my friends ended up going. So I was scared of losing all of my friends but i knew that we could still keep in touch and that I would make new friends. I also had the same fears everyone has when they go to a new school. I was looking forward to the new experiences and opportunities id get. The new people id meet the friends I would make. Most importantly the things id learn.
