Maillard middle school was my middle school. When I was in grade 10 my brothers where still going to Maillard so my parents where still very active in the school. One thing my father did that year was to apply for a beautification grant for Maillard to help beautify the grounds and start a garden. During the grant writing process I helped my father with the budgeting of everything that would be needed. The amount of soil and how much that would cost. while Maillard worked on what they wished for in terms of the garden we would be pricing every thing out and seeing what would work. After the word that the grant will be going towards Maillard beautification grant. It was time to start working.

Everything need to be ordered, bought and planned so that’s what was being done on the day leading up to the event. On the day of the event April 27 it was a very long day. Everyone in my house was up and ready at 7am to start working. In our garage we had a lot of the supply’s that needed to be taken to the school let alone the preparation that need to be done so that it would run smoothly. So my brothers started taking stuff to the school and bringing their classmates back to continue to help moving all the supply and plants that where at my house to the school. Once they where all brought to the school to student volunteers from Maillard that would be helping to move the groups around had a meeting to make sure everything would run smoothly. That’s when I had a meeting with all of the inquiry hub students who volunteered. Most of the IHub students that went up to Maillard had once attended Maillard. It was kind of nice to give back where we went to school in the past and see our past teachers. During that meeting everyone would make sure they where clear on their tasks and ask any questions they had. We then worked with the students and parents of Maillard for the rest of the day. It ended about 2:30 and then clean up begun.
