The Khen Spencer Award is a award for innovation in teaching and learning that is given by the Canadian education association.  The award also cam with $7,000. The teachers decided that since students are so involved in our school they should have a say of where the money would go. So it was decided that students would try to apply for the funding by doing a pitch/grant proposal. After each presentation their would be a tally of how many students supported that idea to determine if it had enough student support. The idea that I proposed was a kitchen unite.

April 15 2015 was the big day when the school was going to be awarded the Khen Spencer Award  By Khen Spencer and the Canadian education association. There was a lot that was happening before that day and needed to get done. All the grade 11 had to collaborate to make a presentation that show cased what has happened through the past 3 years. Then each student that had a proposal had to pre pare to present.

The night before a group of students and I planned what food we would have for that day. We ordered and bought all the supplies that we needed. The night before we did as much preparation as we could by the end of the night both of my fridges where full with food. That morning we meet at school early to set up all of the food and make 50 sandwiches. The we had to make it all presentable before people started to arrive we did that just on time.

At 9:30 the day started with a intro from Mr. Truss and the teachers. Then the grade 11 at the time presented. After that all of students that had proposals presented. After that the Canadian education association awarded the award to the school. Then every one went to the commons for the food and to talk and those who wanted tours would be taken on one. It was a very exciting day.
